stations of the cross

client: Sheshatshiu Innu First Nations

location: Sheshatshiu, Labrador

use: art installation

scale: 18 in x 30 in x 1.125 in

Located in Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Sheshatshiu, Labrador, this collection of fourteen wooden sculptures are designed as the Church's stations of the cross.

The sculptures are designed and assembled in studio. At eighteen by thirty inches, each sculpture consists of three laser cut plywood panels that are layered to provide depth, and a thicker plywood board to provide extra durability.

The title on each station has been translated from English to the local language by community members. While red was used to highlight the scene of each sculpture, the first and last panels were left unpainted to signify the beginning and end of stations of the cross.
